as you know, i love TV. especially The IT Crowd, easily one of the greatest shows on TV. brought to us by the Brits. and apparenlty adored by other countries… who have tried their own take on it. there was supposed to be an American version [figures, it would be just like The Office, and the rumoured to be coming soon Little Britain], but apparently it got pulled really early. so early that i am pretty sure there isn’t even a full episode, or at least not out on the internet… yet? but then i heard that there was a german version. we just had to check it out. it sounded awesome. even with the language barrier. but things were not looking good. it got canned after one episode [evem ythough i did find an "episode 2"] and the ones i did find were impossible to download. eventually i found it using google video. thank God we did not lose much time searching or allocate bandwidth towards downloading it. what a waste.

they use the exact same story line as the british one and try to make everything look the same. but it is a paltry resemblance at most. the acting is sub-par, except for the one scene where the "Jen stand-in" panics about the boss coming to visit. other than that, Moss and Roy had barely any speaking lines, and the ones they did SUCKED, well the delivery did. it was not an issue of language barrier because it was an episode i just about know by heart, i know all the jokes and most of the lines. even the set of the IT office was rather crappy and hastily-put-together-looking.

all in all it was really crappy and i can definetly see why it got canned so quickly. but it was still worth watching. it only further reminded me of how great the IT Crowd is… and when something is that great…. you do not tinker with it.
